Full lodging (breakfast/lunch and dinner) for the course period.  For each course we apply the Maldivian Aerated Water Company Inc.  Coca Cola Company Maldives to support this course with drinking water.  They have previously generously supplied the course participants with sufficient drinking water for the full course period.  While we apply for this support in advance before each course, we usually don't get the final acknowledgment before we arrive and we can thus not give a formal guarantee for such sponsoring.  In the event that water-sponsoring fails, recognize that drinking water was priced to USD 2 per 1.5 l during the 2004 course.

Textbooks: We provide you with two Swedish textbooks (Hyperbar Fysiologi och Dykerimiedicin and Hyperbar Oxygenbehandling by Hans Örnhagen) as well as Edmonds&Pennefather Diving Medicine.  The selection of textbooks is reviewed on a continuous basis and may change if other alternatives are considered better.  You will further be mailed a comprehensive binder containing handouts for all lectures as well as description of the exercises.

Students signing up for diving will be admitted five dives (travel and diving equipment included (wetsuit, regulator, tank, led/weightbelt, BCD, pressure gauge, depth gauge).  We suggest you bring your own dive computer as you will otherwise have to pay extra for that.  Please note these limitations for diving:

  • You will not be refunded for any dives you decide not to participate on.
  • Diving at Bandos is pending a valid diving certificate. CMAS, PADI, NAUI, SSI and other major training organizations are recognized. If you hold a military or professional diving certificate only or a diving certificate issued by a less known training organization please let us know at the time of enrolment to allow us to enquire "Dive Bandos" (the dive school at Bandos) whether your certificate is accepted or whether additional measures must be taken. 

We plan for three excursions (free of charge) during your stay at the Bandos, one for Male, one for a nearby fishing village (a visit to a traditional Maldivian island) and one fishing trip, the number of trips as well as final details are subject to changes.

 

Extras

  • All drinks except drinking water sponsored by the Maldivian Aerated Water Company Inc (see above).
  • Aiport tax: The inclusion and/or exclusion of airport tax at Male international airport seems to change depending on carrier policy from year to year.  You may be charged for a moderate aiport tax (November 2004: USD 16/person) when leaving the Maldives, there are no other airport taxes pending.
  • Diving training courses (e.g. PADI OWD, AOWD, Nitrox course etc) you decide to complete while on the island. We suggest that you complete basic SCUBA diving training before leaving your home country to get the most out of your stay at Bandos.  Please contact us if you are in need of SCUBA training as we have an agreement with PADI Nordic on this.
  • Excursions (e.g. to Male or other islands) beyond the ones offered by the course (see above).
  • Any water activities you decide to participate in (e.g. water-skiing, paragliding, sailing, canoing etc)
  • Tip to the waiters, diving school etc
